Visual Rhetoric Uncompleted Model
The model includes a personified joint, made with cloth, moss and rubber arms and legs from a reused doll. The completed joint will have googly eyes and a plastic smiley face. The joint is inside a cage constructed with a glass floor and jewelry wire for the bars and ceiling. The joint inside a cage or prison is used to symbolize the illegality of marijuana. This silly, personified form of a joint is also meant to capture the negative stereotype of marijuana users. I used wire for the bars of the cage to create an analogy. The arguments keeping marijuana from being legal are thin and few but strong. The completed mascot is meant to look happy and harmless for the purpose of raising the question "Why is the stoner behind bars?"

I think the message of the 3-d image is that this joint contained with marijuana is meant for recreational purposes and shouldn't be looked at as a threat. The reason I feel that this joint is for recreational purposes is because I get this happy and jolly vibe from looking at this model. The fact that a joint has limbs is somewhat a funny concept to begin with and then upon further observation it appears that the hands of a joint are giving the thumbs up to whoever is looking at it. The looseness of the bars that are containing the joint from getting out seem to be loosely detaining the joint because of the spaces between each bar. I get a feeling that it's only a matter of time until the uses of a joint are no longer going to be impeded and the joint will be free for all purposes and uses. I feel that the intended audience is for everyone that has a view on the purpose of marijuana. People who advocate for the use of marijuana may feel that they are near the freedom to utilize marijuana and those that may not condone marijuana usage may feel that they are going to lose the battle against the legality of marijuana.
